it seems to me that one of the reasons why God brought me back to Canada at this time is to teach me (re-teach me?) what it means to be human. from things like eating properly - not just what kinds of foods, mind you, i mean the actual act of eating properly (ie, chewing 20 times before i swallow) - to breathing every day (ie, not just shallow breathing, but deep inhaling/exhaling), God is reminding me that i need to live well and not neglect the basics.
i'm not sure what the spiritual implications of these lessons are... perhaps that my body, frail as it is, is God's temple? but somehow i feel like i'm a toddler again. and it's nice to know that in God's eyes, there are things i'll never outgrow. :)

Ollie, so much is going on in your life! Firstly, I am so excited for you and Tim. He has been such a good friend and you both have been blessed to find eachother. You each are sure quite the catch! As for the whole body/temple thing...convicting. After living on very little sleep the past few days as I have been travelling, eating poorly, and getting battered and bruised in the ocean, I need the reminder of what our bodies are...temples. We are so durable, so stable and strong in so many ways. Our ability to heal is incredible. Our immune system brilliantly designed. Our bodies are intricately designed. Yet, it all rests upon such a fine-tuned and seemingly fragile balance. One thing can throw everything else off. The basics...chew chew chew (and then some more chewing) then swallow. Breathe. Breathe deeply. So simple but so imperative.
